War Stories 3 – 437

In preparation for a recent podcast I asked:

I got a lot of great stories and knew we had to share them here on the podcast.

Possibly my two favorite were

  1. Dislocated shoulder while napping and
  2. Sprained ankle while napping.

Bubba Wilson joins me as we read these tweets and add some commentary.  I loved these responses. I have screenshotted most of them and pasted them in the show notes.

Also, Laurie Beth gave a shout out to her mentor Leah Cox and we read it on the show.  Always remember the ones who got you here.

Negotiating Your Salary – 333

Jared and Alisha have some really good experience and advice on negotiating as an Athletic Trainer.

Remember negotiate means to find a win-win

Start the conversation and be prepared.

Have a goal in mind and be open to ideas

Allow them to formulate the idea themselves – “How do you see this working out?”

Check out the show notes as you listen, you will likely want to take your own notes

**UPDATE** Day after recording this Shawn Ready used these very skills to negotiate his salary and hours at his new job.

How You can win with Personal Finance – 310

Jared Plummer has paid off $50,000 in debt in about 3 years by making choices that were different the what he was used to.

I, Jeremy Jackson, paid off $68,000 in debt in 22 months, has 6 months of expenses less than 10 years left on the mortgage and thriving with a single Athletic Trainer's income family of 5.   We are no longer living paycheck to paycheck, we just paid $6,600 to have our air conditioner replaced and didn't miss out on anything because we had saved up for home repairs and emergencies.

Shawn Ready is just looking into winning with his money.  Jared and I are happy to walk along side him and encourage all athletic trainers to be intentional and have a plan rather than wonder where your money went.
