    This is something that absolutely needs to happen in some form or another. Like said, it’s just a matter of implementing it the right way. Outside of stricter followups and massive fines, I’m not sure how we’d keep teams from exploiting the rule.

  9. In a document published by in August 2017, the number of concussed players returning to the field of play was reduced from 56% to 12% in the first year of implementation. Although in a different sport, these are promising results clearly prioritizing player welfare.

  10. A temporary substitution for head injury assessment has been a part of the laws of the game since 2015 (trials of this law started in 2012):

  11. A proposal has been submitted by to to implement a "head injury substitution" rule starting 2020, allowing a temporary substitute on the field during a head injury assessment. If passed, the rule would be the first of its kind in professional soccer.
