Sandford “Sandy” Miller has retired and been inducted into the NATA hall of fame.  After many years at Stephen F. Austin as teh Athletic Trainer he has moved to the academic and advising side of our profession.  With years always comes some wisdom and Sandy shares some of his with Cathy Supak and John Harmon

Dr. Phillip Williams is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).

Dr. Williams specializes in Sports Medicine with a focus on innovative arthroscopic and reconstructive interventions for injuries affecting individuals of all ages. Ultimately, his goal is to get patients back to doing what they love, whether it is returning to the football field or chasing grandchildren around the park.

Houston is a major medical center.  there are many opportunities to get CEUs from some really great organizations like Houston Methodist, Memorial Hermann, Texas Children's, Airrosti and others.

But Athletic Trainers in some places have to drive a long way to get to a hospital or orthopedic doctor's office.

Workshops are great and even better when they are free (NATM Giveaways) but not always feasible.

I recommend a few free ways to get CEUs like:

  • TheATVantage – great podcast I personally listen to and have earned CEUs from
  • Gatorade great info, but quizzes are a little hard
  • Medco great info but again the quizzes can be combersome

Then ask Mike Hopper why and how he uses Medbridge to earn unlimited CEUs and build great Home Exercise Plans for his athletes.

Yuhang “Tony” Jia, M.D., is a family medicine and sports medicine physician serving patients newborn and up. A graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Dr. Jia completed his residency at Houston Methodist Family Residency and his fellowship at Houston Methodist Sports Medicine.
