Ramadan and Athletic Health – 546

What is Ramadan?

  • Ramadan is the holiest observance of the world's second-largest religion.
  • Takes place during the 9th month of the Islamic lunar calendar
    • Shorter than the Gregorian calendar, which causes the change in time from year to year.
  • Ramadan is the obligatory spiritual period of abstaining from eating, drinking, smoking, chewing and sexual relations from dawn to sundown
    • For the scope of our practice, we are only going to discuss diet, sleep, and hydration
